How much smaller will my image get?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the image. Screenshots and graphics saved as PNG usually shrink by 50–70%. Photos straight from a phone or camera usually get much smaller too, but a photo that was already compressed may not; then you simply get the original back, never a bigger file.

Will my PNG stay a PNG and keep its transparency?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The compressor always keeps your original format unless you choose a different one (or use "By file size", which saves JPG). PNGs are reduced to an optimized color palette, which keeps transparent areas transparent.

How do I compress an image to 20 KB or 50 KB?

Accepted Answer

Choose "By file size" and pick 20 KB, 50 KB or another limit. You get a JPG just under that size in the best quality that fits. If quality alone isn’t enough, the photo also gets fewer pixels, and the tool shows the new size, e.g. 4000 × 6000 → 433 × 650 px. A JPG that is already small enough is kept as it is.

Why does it say "Already optimized"?

If compression cannot make your image any smaller, we give you back the original file instead of a larger one. This usually means the image was already well compressed.

There is no fixed limit. You can add as many images as your device memory allows and download them all as a ZIP.
